Tributes to the greatest Australian entertainers is a permanent and growing display that shows a trail of 100 stars, a magnificent mural and a series of life-size bronze statues.
Variety Entertainers of the Century at Waterfront City celebrates Australia's fascinating artistic tradition. Variety Entertainers of the Century incorporates three elements:
Walk of Stars
Similar to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, 100 plaques meanders through Waterfront City commemorating the names and achievements of individual artists.
Mosaic Mural
A stunning 11m mosaic mural, created by renowned mosaic artist David Jack and based on an original artwork by Jamie Cooper, has captured each of the 100 entertainers in their hey day in a unique tribute.
Bronze Statues
Five of Australia's top entertainers have been immortalised in bronze by renowned sculptor Peter Corlett. These entertainers include Dame Nellie Melba, Graham Kennedy, Dame Edna Everage, John Farnham and Kylie Minogue.
Variety's Victorian Chairman, Rob Collins says, "We are thrilled to complete the Variety Entertainers of the Century display at Waterfront City with the installation of Dame Edna Everage. She provides a fitting conclusion to the development of this project and it is great to see one of Australia’s most adored characters bring the display to fruition."
